Breaking News ! Sandwell Council has confirmed an investigation has been launched after a massive heap of rubbish was dumped in the middle of a West Bromwich street. The mountain of waste was spotted blocking the road in Bilhay Lane, yesterday afternoon (January 13). Residents took to Facebook to express their outrage and called for Sandwell council to install CCTV in the fly-tipping hotspot. Councillor Maria Crompton, deputy leader of Sandwell Council, said: "It is absolutely devastating to see this amount of rubbish dumped illegally. “Fly-tipping is a dreadful environmental crime and the council and the people of Sandwell will not tolerate it. We will continue in our fight against selfish people who dump rubbish.
. "We urge anyone with information to go to www.sandwell.gov.uk/flytipping or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.” Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and those caught doing it could face large fines of up to £20,000 and even be sent to prison.
