MetiNews.Com - Birmingham City transfer news: Aitor Karanka's side appear to have said their goodbyes to former Sheffield United and Brentford striker Scott Hogan after his loan spell from Aston Villa
Breaking News ! Birmingham City appear to have confirmed that Aston Villa loanee Scott Hogan is returning to Villa Park. Hogan joined Blues in January and hit the ground running with seven goals in his first eight matches. His form tailed off after lockdown though as Blues limped toward the finish line of the 2019-20 season, ending the season in 20th place and only two points clear of relegated Charlton Athletic in 22nd. Hogan, who struggled at Stoke City in the first half of the campaign, joined on January 29 and immediately made an impression on debut with a goal in a 2-1 defeat of Nottingham Forest at St Andrew's on February 1. Now Hogan heads back to Villa with a year on his deal and it seemingly another spell away from his parent club with Blues' Twitter account posting a highlights video of his goals with the caption: "All the best for your future." "It's probably the last chance to be honest," he said after the Forest game. "If I don't get this right, I'm probably going to be in and around the Championship for the rest of my career and that’s if I’m lucky. "It's probably my last chance to push on and get to where I want to be. "I ended up going to Villa on the last day of that transfer window and ever since then I've just fallen away.

"I've got to put that right. I’m 27, I should be coming to my peak. "I've got to put it right because I know I can do it in this division. "Whether people I'm good enough or they don't, it is up to them to decide that but personally I want to play in the Premier League to retire in ten years time a happy man."
