Breaking News ! Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta continues to be linked with a move away from Villa Park. Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Besiktas have been credited with an interest in the Tanzanian international, who only joined Villa in January. An £8.5 million arrival from Genk, Samatta managed only one Premier League goal and struggled to adapt to life in the English top flight. Samatta and Keinan Davis were Villa head coach Dean Smith's only options up front after lockdown, with former club-record signing Wesley Moraes missing the end of the season because of a serious knee injury. Borja Baston was signed on deadline day from Swansea City but his contract was allowed to expire at the end of June before the conclusion of the season.
. Where that leaves Samatta, under contract for another four years, is unclear with Smith continuing to persevere with Keinan Davis who scored at Burton Albion on Tuesday night. Fanatik, via Sport Witness, say progress has been made in Fener's bid to sign Samatta, with the Turkish top tier side 'close' to a loan-to-buy agreement. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Samatta leave, with Villa reportedly interested in signing Josh King from AFC Bournemouth following his side's relegation to the Championship last season.
