Breaking News ! An estate agency is shedding more than 50 jobs after closing three branches in Worcestershire. Andrew Grant has gone into administration and is making 54 members of staff redundant. Branches in Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and Worcester will shut down. The company has been trading for 49 years and will downsize and become a smaller operation, keeping the brand name but focusing solely on lettings and property management, saving 18 jobs. It also has closed its offices in Ludlow and Stourbridge. For Sale sign (Image: SCU) Andrew Grant experienced difficulties in 2018 and 2019 and restructured last year, closing some branches.  The lockdown, where the housing market closed for several months, was also said to have played a part in its demise. The new-look Andrew Grant Sales will have a smaller online-only team and will oversee all the house sales currently going through until completion.  All staff involved in the rental side have been kept on and will transfer to the new Andrew Grant Lettings. A week ago the agency posted on its website: “The well-known and trusted brand has transferred ownership. Members of the established senior team, along with two local independent backers, have taken on the brand and are confident in their strategy to further strengthen and grow the business.

." One of the independent backers, Scott Richardson-Brown, said the new-look Andrew Grant would not have a branch network. "There is a huge need for personal service. We are going to do it with a different model and without a branch network," he said. "There is a viable business here. We will be using internet technology to drive the business. We will be employing additional people in the long term." Estate agent Andrew Grant, from Kidderminster, started the firm in Worcester in 1971 and at one stage it employed more than 100 people. Last year the company closed a number of high street offices, including in Redditch, Droitwich and Hereford.  The new business, which is currently being run from home, is now looking for an office space in the Worcester area.
