Breaking News ! Downton Abbey first came to our screens in 2020 and soon became a firm favourite with viewers. The period drama, which ran for six series, was not only popular with British viewers but Americans also became hooked. And Berkshire folk are able to boast about the fact that the series, which ran over six series from 2010 to 2015, was filmed at Highclere Castle near Newbury. The stately home, which has more than 300 rooms, is the setting for the popular ITV period drama series, it also features in the Downton Abbey film which was released on September 13 2019. Although the outside of the castle and grounds feature in the show, most of the indoor scenes are filmed inside a London studio, like the kitchen and servants quarters.
