Breaking News ! It was a largely uneventful goalless draw for Reading this weekend at Middlesbrough. The 0-0 stalemate at the Riverside Stadium brought Royals' winning run to an end, but at least means they remain unbeaten in the Championship. Ovie Ejaria and Michael Olise both had good opportunities to score for the visitors, while Boro had a goal disallowed for offside, much to Neil Warnock's dismay. Touchline spat There were a few times when tempers boiled over in the two technical areas during the game. The biggest spat between Veljko Paunovic and Neil Warnock came towards the end of the first half when the pair had more than a few words to say to each other. It came after a Middlesbrough player had tried to block a quick free-kick by Reading. There was a minor scuffle on the pitch but nothing more although the two managers weren't best pleased. (Image: PA) A few swear words were exchanged and they certainly did not want to look each other in the eye. Some of the other staff, including John O'Shea and Quinton Fortune for Reading and Boro's Ronnie Jepson and Kevin Blackwell, also got involved by sharing their views. In the end, however, it proved to be a lot of fuss over very little. Morrison's nearly moment The Reading centre-back had a heart-in-mouth moment early on in the game when he tried to head the ball away. The experienced defender got his angles mixed up and as he made the clearance, it didn't go where he wanted it to go. The ball was floated in from Jonny Howson and Morrison in the centre of the area headed the ball behind him and almost into the top right corner of the net. . Both teams had been well drilled, were well organised and kept a strong discipline throughout the 90 minutes. In an attacking sense, however, those responsible for opening the backlines up and creating chances fell short. In Reading's case, players such as Lucas Joao, Yakou Meite and Michael Olise needed to be more creative. (Image: Getty Images) According to the stats on the BBC website, there was just one shot on target all game. That was Olise's in the first half which Marcus Bettinelli did well to save down to his left. But of the 18 shots overall (eight for Middlesbrough and 10 for Reading) this is the area which is cause for concern. It is certainly no reason to panic for Royals-as it's important to remember they are still unbeaten. However, it's an issue which Veljko Paunovic should be working on with the squad in the coming weeks to ensure the team stays around the top of the Championship table.
