Breaking News ! Two Reading players seemingly on their way out of the club have been handed lifelines by new boss Veljko Paunovic. Tennai Watson and Ryan East were both handed spots in the matchday squad for Tuesday night's Carabao Cup clash with Luton Town. Watson started the match at Madejski Stadium, while East was one of the seven substitutes. The defender made his Royals debut under the Dutchman the year before having come through the youth ranks at the club. East was in a similar boat to Watson - with the U23s at the start of pre-season and having initially not been given a squad number, it looked as though he was nearing the exit. . Although he didn't get on against the Hatters, the fact he was there suggests Paunovic has seen enough him to be given an opportunity. Barring significant injuries to key players, it's difficult to envisage either getting much game time. Both must continue to strive for that chance, however, and seize it with both hands when they are given the responsibility to shine for Reading.
